Compound brief
IGF-1 LR3
Evidence brief. Not treatment advice or a safety clearance. Last evidence update: September 2026.
What researchers are studying it for
The Arg3 change and the extension lower affinity for IGF binding proteins, so more of the peptide stays free in solution than native IGF-1. Free peptide is why hypoglycemia is the chemical risk next to insulin.
Lower binding-protein affinity is not the same thing as a higher safe dose.
Pathway
IGF-1 receptors drive growth signaling through IRS and PI3K-AKT. At higher exposure the insulin receptor is no longer a stranger, and glucose falls.
Binding proteins normally soak up IGF-1. LR3 is built to avoid them, so the free concentration is the point of the analog and the point of the hypoglycemia risk.
